We’re proud to announce the establishment of the Salubris Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC), a governance committee formed by the Board of Salubris Australia Limited, and the inaugural meeting, which was held earlier this month.
The Salubris IAC has been established in recognition of Salubris’ continuing and growing engagement with multiple Traditional Owner groups on land-based opportunities across Western Australia. The Committee’s main purpose is to assist and guide both the Salubris Board and wider team in managing these relationships in an ethical and sustainable manner. More broadly, the Committee will play an important role in supporting Salubris’ broader Indigenous engagement initiatives – offering cultural insights, guiding communication approaches, and advising on how best to represent and communicate our Traditional Owner relationships to the wider public.
The Committee consists of:
- Professor Colleen Hayward, Committee Member – Senior Noongar woman with over 35 years’ professional experience, who currently serves on the Boards of Salubris, MinRes and the Fremantle Dockers.
- Peter Jeffries, Committee Member – Highly regarded senior Aboriginal leader from the Pilbara region and former CEO of Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation.
- Dr Guy Singleton, Committee Chairperson – Strategic Advisor to Salubris, Lotterywest Commissioner and Chairperson of Central Desert Native Title Services.
- Charlene Doyle, Committee Secretary – General Manager – Commercial at Salubris.
During the first meeting, the Committee engaged in meaningful discussions around Salubris’ Indigenous engagement to date, marketing and communication materials, and the Company’s broader engagement strategy. The Committee provided insight into the bicentenary of the Swan River Colony in 2029 and its significance for Aboriginal people in Western Australia, which will help shape Salubris’ thinking around a culturally appropriate acknowledgement of this date.
Looking ahead, the Committee will guide the development and implementation of Salubris’ Traditional Owner Engagement Plan (TOEP) and will meet quarterly to monitor and review progress.
Through this Committee, Salubris reaffirms its commitment to building genuine, ethical, and best-in-class partnerships with Traditional Owner groups across Western Australia.
